Overview
For Zanny Begg’s public artwork Dancing with Bees, Octopus supplied the custom LED hardware for two circular outdoor displays installed on the curved tiled tower at Orange Civic Theatre. The purpose-built screens form an integral part of the artwork rather than conventional rectangular signage.
The two displays work together as a real-time clock. The upper screen presents a different photographed bee for each hour, while dancers on the lower screen mark the passing minutes through movement and colour. The custom circular format supports the artwork’s concept while fitting the architecture of the civic precinct.
